§ 34. Mr. Ellis Smithasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will seek to facilitate arrangements by British traders to hold exhibitions of pottery and other British consumer goods in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
§ Sir D. EcclesIf any of our exporters of these goods wishes to exhibit in Russia and meets with difficulties I shall be ready to do all I can to help.
§ Mr. Ellis SmithMay I say that I hope note will be taken of that by our leading exporters of consumer goods because, 1246 according to information that I have, there is a great potential for orders for consumer goods and, in view of our economic needs in the export trade, I hope that the officials will take the initiative in this matter?
§ Sir D. EcclesI believe that there is a very big market in Russia, but so far the efforts to get into it with consumer goods have not been very successful.
