§ 31. Mr. J. Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will now make a statement upon the findings of the inquest into the deaths of the detainees at Hola Camp in Kenya.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThe magistrate's findings are not expected to be announced until 6th May.
§ Mr. JohnsonWill the Secretary of State bear in mind the immense anxiety 1080 felt by all communities in Kenya following upon the death of ten detainees after being beaten? Will the right hon. Gentleman give the House an assurance that proceedings will be taken against anyone in the administration found culpable of neglect and maladministration in this particularly shocking incident?
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydIn fairness to all who might be concerned, I think that we must first await the magistrate's findings.
