§ 23. Mr. Brockwayasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when it is proposed to end the Emergency Regulations in Kenya.
§ The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Mr. Alan Lennox-Boyd)As soon as, in the view of the Governor, the situation in Kenya permits.
§ Mr. BrockwayIn view of the improved political situation in Kenya, which now gives some hope of solution of the outstanding problems, is there not now an opportunity to extend the degree of good will there by ending the Emergency Regulations, most of which are now absolutely obsolete?
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydI am afraid I cannot add to the Answer I have given. I am as anxious as everyone else to take advantage of the improved situation in Kenya, but there are considerations which must be borne in mind, and the Answer I have given is the most I can give at this stage.
