HC Deb 12 November 1958 vol 595 c365
24. Mr. Moyle

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what progress he has made in his consultations with local authorities on street lighting.

Mr. Nugent

Following a conference of lighting authorities in the London area which I held last May, a Consultative Committee for London has been formed, representing 103 authorities. I understand they have already held two meetings, and I hope for good results from their work.

Mr. Moyle

May I ask the Joint Parliamentary Secretary what progress has been made in the direction of the West Midlands conurbation in relation to the authorities there?

Mr. Nugent

I have no reports of further developments in the provinces. We are just about to send out an inquiry to local authorities as the basis of a survey. When we have completed that survey, it may give the stimulus to similar action in the provinces. I certainly hope so.
