HC Deb 12 November 1958 vol 595 c365
26. Captain Pilkington

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what preliminary work has to be done on the main part of the Marble Arch-Hyde Park Corner Scheme which prevents work starting for another twelve months.

Mr. Nugent

I am informed by the London County Council that the preliminary work consists of the diversion of the public utilities apparatus and the preparation of the main scheme in all its details. Owing to the magnitude of the work, greatly complicated as it is by the need to keep the great volume of traffic flowing throughout, these preliminary arrangements are inevitably intricate and lengthy.
