Mr. Farey-Jonesasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works, as representing the Lord President 170 of the Council, to what extent, with the closing of the Fuel Research Station, arrangements are being made for the continuation of the nation-wide survey of atmospheric pollution conducted by that station with the co-operation of local authorities and other organisations.
§ Mr. H. NichollsThe organisation of the survey will be transferred to the new Warren Spring Laboratory of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research which will open at Stevenage towards the end of this year.
§ Mr. Farey-JonesCan my hon. Friend tell me whether research work on atmospheric pollution is to be continued?
§ Mr. H. NichollsI know that my hon. Friend has a personal reason for wanting to see it continued, and I can assure him that the Warren Spring laboratory will become a national centre of this research, just as the other one was.
