§ 4. Mr. Anthony Greenwoodasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what progress he has made so far with his review of Government Information Services.
Dr. HillThe general survey of existing overseas services has been completed, and suggestions for their modification are now being sifted.
§ Mr. GreenwoodWould the right hon. Gentleman tell the House in what form he proposes to make this report. Will it, for example, be available to hon. Members in the form of a White Paper?
Dr. HillI did reply earlier to that Question. While I am unable as yet to 1526 give a firm indication of the form of the Report, it will, of course, give an indication of the Government's decisions and conclusions.
§ Mr. Emrys HughesCould the Minister tell us whether he is handling publicity and information about the Budget, and will he see to it that hon. Members are supplied with reasons why the Government reduced taxation for the Prime Minister and the Archbishop of Canterbury by £520 a year, so that we may answer the questions which are put to us by old-age pensioners?
§ Mr. Ernest DaviesWill the right hon. Gentleman give an assurance that no fundamental changes in these services will be made, particularly in the overseas services, before the House has been informed of the Government's proposals and has an opportunity of debating them?
Dr. HillThe question as to debate is not for me. I have told the hon. Gentleman before that an indication of the Government's conclusions and decisions will be reported to this House.
