§ 3. Mr. Anthony Greenwoodasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will publish a guide to the Government Information Services for the convenience of home and overseas journalists and broadcasters.
§ The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (Dr. Charles Hill)I share the view of the hon. Member that not enough is known of the work of the Government Information Services. I will certainly consider this and other suggestions on ways of providing more information about them. Meanwhile, I am sending the hon. Member a copy of a new series of leaflets, provided by the Central Office of Information, for distribution to journalists, describing publicity for export promotion and indicating how industry can help the information services.
§ Mr. GreenwoodI am most grateful to the right hon. Gentleman, but I wonder whether he would bear in mind also the possibility, perhaps after Easter, of arranging an exhibition in the Palace of Westminster of the material which is produced by the Central Office of Information?
§ Dr. HillThere is a good deal in the hon. Gentleman's suggestion, and I have it in mind to do what he asks. I am sure that hon. Members in all parts of the House would be glad to see some indication of the output of the Central Office of Information.
§ Mr. ShinwellDoes that mean that the right hon. Gentleman will not confine this guide to overseas journalists and broadcasters but will make it available to hon. Members?
§ Dr. HillI had in mind a small exhibition of the material of all kinds produced by the Central Office of Information, for the benefit of hon. Members.
