HC Deb 02 July 1956 vol 555 c982
35. Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Health whether his regulations permit a Member of Parliament who was formerly employed full-time by one of the hospital boards to return to such employment whilst still maintaining his position and salary as a Member of Parliament.

Mr. Turton

Yes, Sir.

Mr. Lewis

Will facilities be given to a Member of Parliament in that position who works from 9 till 5 in a hospital to have time off to attend his duties here, or vice versa? Can the right hon. Gentleman explain how such a person can do two jobs, bearing in mind the usual hours worked in hospitals?

Mr. Turton

I think it would be extremely difficult, but the hon. Gentleman asked me the Question.
