§ 32. Mr. Fenner Brockwayasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what have been the results of the testing of the bridge linking Windsor and Eton by his officials.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterThe bridge was tested by officials of the Berkshire County Council assisted by officers of my Department on the night of 31st October-1st November, 1955, but the results are not yet available.
§ Mr. BrockwayWhen the right hon. Gentleman receives those results will he bear in mind the need to preserve this picturesque and historic little bridge, and consider two proposals: first, that heavy lorry traffic should be diverted to another route in order also to avoid Eton High Street, and, second, speeding the work on the by-pass which would relieve the bridge?
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterOf course I will consider the hon. Gentleman's suggestions, but until I get the results of the test I cannot comment on them.
