HC Deb 16 November 1955 vol 546 c409
35. Sir W. Wakefield

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation why the second carriageway recently added to the Great Cambridge Road, between the North Circular Road and Bury Street, was constructed some 2 ft. narrower than the other carriageway, which is 24 ft. wide; and what width it is his intention to construct the second carriageway on this road between Bury Street and Carter Hatch Lane.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

When the scheme for a second carriageway between the North Circular Road and Bury Street was planned, the standard for a two-lane carriageway was 22 ft. As a result of the increase in standards since then, the second carriageway between Bury Street and Carter Hatch Lane will be 24 ft. wide.
