§ 18. Mr. Benceasked the Secretary of State for War what conditions are laid down for the replacement to ex-Service men of medals destroyed by enemy action.
§ Mr. BenceIs the Secretary of State aware that a Clydebank ex-Service man of the First World War, particulars of whom I have given him, who lost his leg in the First World War and was awarded the Military Medal and Bar, satisfied the Department that his medals were lost in the 1941 blitz but has been asked by the Department to pay £2. 6s. 9d. for their replacement?
§ Mr. HeadI have asked the Department to search all the records of those requiring medals but no trace can be found of the claim. If the hon. Member gives me particulars, I will certainly go into the case at once.
