HC Deb 15 June 1955 vol 542 cc575-6
31. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is yet in a position to make a further statement on the proposed Forth Bridge or Forth Tunnel indicating which plan he has decided to adopt; and when work on it will commence.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I would refer the hon. and learned Member to the answer I gave the hon. Member for Leith (Mr. Hoy) yesterday.

Mr. Hughes

Does the Minister realise that the transport services of the north-east of Scotland deserve just as much and as prompt treatment as the transport services of England, and that this is a very important matter to Scotland?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

As the hon. and learned Member will no doubt appreciate when he reads the answer which I gave to his hon. Friend yesterday, I have given full weight to that in the selection of three extremely capable and experienced men to go into this question.
