§ 4. Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Minister of Education whether the investigations into punishments and rewards of children in schools, under taken by the Foundation for Educational Research, which was announced on 24th April, 1947, have now been completed; whether the report, which he informed the House on 18th May, 1950, would probably be completed in July, 1950, has been issued; whether it will be published in full or summarised; and what steps he proposes to take in the matter.
§ Mr. TomlinsonYes, Sir, the investigations have been completed. The report to which I referred was the report of the Foundation's investigators, which was not in a form suitable for publication. No report has yet been issued, but I understand that the Foundation will shortly reach a final decision about publication. I do not propose to intervene.
§ Mr. FreemanCan my right hon. Friend say what action will be taken when he receives this report?
§ Mr. TomlinsonI will look at it first.
