39. Mr. Lucasasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation where the apparatus will be situated which will survey aircraft flying in Airway Green 1.
§ Mr. BeswickThe civil radar unit is located at London Airport. I am not able to disclose the location of military radar units which will extend the coverage over this airway.
Mr. LucasWill the Parliamentary Secretary assure the House that he is satisfied that fast moving aircraft will be detected by radar in the areas concerned?
§ Mr. BeswickThis matter has been discussed with the responsible people. I cannot give a general assurance because, as the hon. Member knows, there are certain conditions when we cannot be categorical.
§ 40. Mr. Nigel Fisherasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation when it is expected that the survey equipment for the airways, other than Airway Green 1, will be delivered and installed.
§ Mr. BeswickThe coverage available from the civil radar at London Airport will be used in conjunction with Service radars and will be progressively increased.
