HC Deb 06 December 1950 vol 482 cc331-2
6. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any results have followed from the recent Anglo-Yemeni Conference.

Mr. Ernest Davies

As stated in the Press communiqué issued on 12th October at the conclusion of the Anglo-Yemeni Conference, certain proposals have been submitted to the two Governments, further details of which will be released when the two Governments have considered their delegations' reports. No communication on the subject has yet been received from the Yemeni Government and it is, therefore, not yet possible to give any further information.

Mr. Dodds-Parker

Will the Minister make certain that, during these negotiations, the interests of those sheiks under the protection of His Majesty's Government are safeguarded?

Mr. Davies

I will look into that, but no negotiations are going on at present. We are waiting for the views of the Yemeni Government, arising out of this agreement.
