8. Mr. Ralph Morley

asked the Minister of Education, in view of the recommendation of the Barlow and Percy Reports that a certain number of colleges of technology should be selected for university status, if he is now in the position to give the names of the colleges of technology he will select for university status.

Mr. Tomlinson

No, Sir. The question is still being considered by the National Advisory Council on Education for Industry and Commerce.

Mr. Morley

Could my right hon. Friend say when he thinks the Council will issue their report, because there is a great deal of anxiety among some colleges, such as Bradford Technical College over the delay in granting University status?

Mr. Tomlinson

I am asking them to speed up consideration of this matter.
