§ 34. Colonel Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs why there is so much delay in issuing permits to German ex-prisoners of war to visit England after permission has been given.
§ Mr. BevinIn the British Zone the normal period between the time an application is submitted and the time the applicant gets his travel documents and exit permit is 14 days. The United Kingdom visa should normally be granted within another seven to 14 days. Owing to the sudden increase in the number of Germans visiting this country following the relaxation on German travel, there were for a time some cases of abnormal delay in granting exit facilities. Remedial action has since been taken and the position is now normal.
