HC Deb 02 March 1948 vol 448 c214
75. Mr. Harrison

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will examine the position concerning the sale, coupon free, of French net lace, produced in France and advertised for sale in this country whilst there exists an embargo on the sale of the British-produced lace on the home market of the same quality and kind.

Mr. Bottomley

Licences for the importation of lace net are not at present being issued, so that the situation to which my hon. Friend refers ought not to arise. I am, however, making further inquiries.

Mr. Harrison

In making inquiries, will my hon. Friend bear in mind the fact that this particular French net has been advertised very widely in the newspapers of this country?
