HC Deb 13 November 1947 vol 444 cc526-7
17. Mr. Assheton

asked the President of the Board of Trade when it is proposed to make payments under the Business Scheme for war damage.

Mr. H. Wilson

As the hon. Member for the Isle of Thanet (Mr. Carson) was informed on 28th October, it is not yet possible to announce the date when deferred claims under the Business Scheme will be paid. Meanwhile, application may be made to my Department for earlier payment on the ground that the replacement or repair of the goods destroyed or damaged is expedient in the public interest, or that such payment is necessary to avoid undue hardship.
