§ 20. Mr. Hurdasked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he is taking to provide more darning wool.
§ Mr. H. WilsonSteps were taken in June last to raise the production of mending wool by 25 per cent. compared with the rate in 1946. The full effects will not be felt for some time, but in July to September, the latest period for which figures are available, supplies already showed an increase of 10 per cent. over the corresponding quarter of 1946.
§ Mr. R. S. HudsonIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that distribution of these increased supplies is very uneven, and that certain areas in Lancashire, including the one adjoining his own constituency, are desperately short still?
§ Mr. WilsonI shall be very glad to receive any evidence about that. I had not noticed that Southport was short of wool.
§ Mr. HudsonIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that representations have been made on more than one occasion to his Department, and that those who have made them have had no satisfaction at all?
§ Mr. Skeffington-LodgeIt is only the Housewives' League.
