HC Deb 19 May 1947 vol 437 cc2006-7
58. Mr. Medlicott

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he is aware that the number of crawler tractors allotted to the county of Norfolk is inadequate to meet the needs of the county; that Norfolk farmers who already own crawler tractors are in difficulties through being unable to obtain replacements and spare parts; and if he will have the position investigated.

Mr. T. Williams

I appreciate the need for more crawler tractors in Norfolk, but the home output is still small and, owing to production difficulties in the U.S.A., we are at present able to obtain only comparatively small numbers from there. Very few complaints of difficulty in obtaining repair parts for crawler tractors have been received from Norfolk in recent months. If the hon. Member will supply me with particulars of any cases that have come to his notice, I shall be happy to have inquiries made.

Mr. Medlicott

Is the Minister satisfied that none of these tractors is at present being exported?

Mr. Williams

I am quite sure, within my own knowledge, that none is being exported from this country.
