HC Deb 19 March 1947 vol 435 cc394-5
27. Mr. Collins

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he has considered a report from the Institution of Electrical Engineers regarding interference with radio reception caused by unscreened domestic and industrial equipment; and if he proposes to take legislative or other action to deal with the matter.

Mr. Burke

Legislative action to provide for the compulsory suppression of electrical interference with radio reception is being considered. In this connection, the Council of the Institution of Electrical Engineers have made valuable recommendations, which will be taken fully into account.

Mr. Collins

Can the Minister say if legislation will be introduced in the very near future?

Mr. Burke

I am afraid it will not be this Session.
