HC Deb 19 June 1947 vol 438 cc2214-5
39. Mr. Parkin

asked the Minister of Health when he expects to make a statement on the reconditioning of rural houses.

Mr. Bevan

I have undertaken to make a statement before the end of the Session.

Mrs. Jean Mann

Will my right hon. Friend give the House an assurance that no material in short supply will be used for the modernising or reconditioning until the homeless have had their houses?

Mr. Bevan

The homeless, of course, have priority on the amount of labour and materials available, and that certainly will be taken into account in the formulation of any policy.
