HC Deb 08 July 1947 vol 439 cc2007-8
7. Wing-Commander Hulbert

asked the Secretary of State for War how many British troops now remain in North Africa; and to what extent these numbers are likely to be reduced in the near future.

Mr. J. Freeman

Apart from Egypt, the only British troops in North Africa are stationed in Cyrenaica and Tripolitania. It would be contrary to practice to give the number of these troops. They are being reduced in proportion to the general run down of the Army.
