§ 10. Mr. Rogersasked the Secretary of State for War why the claims of subconductor K. Shiebert, 5630077, in respect of employment in India, have not yet been settled.
§ Mr. J. FreemanThe claims made by this warrant officer in connection with his Army service in India have all been settled to his satisfaction. The only outstanding claims are in respect of his employment as a civilian foreman in a clothing factory. These items are now the subject of correspondence with the Indian civil authorities, and I have enlisted the aid of my right hon and noble Friend the Secretary of State for India in order to settle the matter with the minimum further delay.
§ 11. Mr. Rogersasked the Secretary of State for War how many cases raised by hon. Members in connection with soldiers serving, or having served, in the Indian Army are awaiting replies from the authorities in India.
§ Mr. J. FreemanThis information is not readily available, and could not be obtained without a disproportionate amount of work, as records of cases raised by hon. Members are not maintained in my Departments classified by Commands.
