HC Deb 28 October 1946 vol 428 c280
57 and 58. Mr. Watkins

asked the Minister of Agriculture (I) what further supplies of tracklaying tractors he expects from the U.S.A. this winter;

(2) how many caterpillar tractors have been admitted into this country during the past three months; and what is their horsepower.

Mr. T. Williams

Twenty-six tracklaying tractors of 32 to 34 drawbar horsepower and one of 44 horsepower have been imported into this country for agricultural purposes during the past three months. Two hundred and fifty-nine tracklaying tractors of 32 to 34 horsepower and 96 of 41 to 45 horsepower are still to come from U.S.A. under the agricultural import programme for 1946. Owing to production difficulties in that country some of these tractors are unlikely to arrive before the early months of 1947. Provision has been made for further imports in that year, but these cannot be expected during the coming winter.
