asked the Minister of Food the quantity and value of the peaches imported into this, country during 1946; what were the main countries of origin; and what price controls were intended to operate when such imported peaches were sold retail in shops or from barrows.

Up to the end of September, 12,443 tons of peaches, including nectarines, have been imported, valued at £2,700,940; these included 4,474 tons from France and 7,781 tons from Italy and small quantities from Holland and Belgium. No maximum retail prices have been prescribed.
