59. Mr. Vaneasked the Minister of Food the quantity and value of the peaches imported into this, country during 1946; what were the main countries of origin; and what price controls were intended to operate when such imported peaches were sold retail in shops or from barrows.
§ Mr. StracheyUp to the end of September, 12,443 tons of peaches, including nectarines, have been imported, valued at £2,700,940; these included 4,474 tons from France and 7,781 tons from Italy and small quantities from Holland and Belgium. No maximum retail prices have been prescribed.
