HC Deb 21 October 1946 vol 427 c1299
42. Mr. George Brown

asked the Minister of Supply the arrangements he has made with the motor trade to ensure priority of delivery of motor vehicles required for essential services, such as coal delivery.

Mr. Wilmot

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member for Linlithgow (Mr. Mathers) on 14th October. The motor industry is informed of any special importance which the Government may attach to particular requirements, such as those of coal distribution.

Mr. Brown

Is my right hon. Friend aware that, in the case which I sent him, some 300 people are in danger of having to go without their coal supplies this winter, owing to the need of a lorry? This is an urgent matter and it is important that something should be done very quickly.

Mr. Wilmot

I quite agree We are keeping that in mind.
