HC Deb 25 March 1946 vol 421 c18
68. Mr. A. Edward Davies

asked the Minister of Supply and of Aircraft Production whether he will make available surplus scientific equipment on reasonable terms to local education authorities for use in schools.

Mr. Wilmot

Yes, Sir; but the amount available is likely to be small.

Mr. Davies

Is the Minister aware that schools believe there is a considerable amount of our equipment which might be useless to a lot of people but which would be extremely useful for boys for experimental purposes in school laboratories? Would be consider that?

Mr. Wilmot

Yes, Sir.

Mr. Cobb

Is my right hon. Friend aware that some of this equipment is being sold at public auctions, and that representatives of the universities and technical colleges are not given an invitation to attend? Will he see that in future they are given an invitation?

Mr. Wilmot

I will certainly look into that.
