HC Deb 25 March 1946 vol 421 c10
28. Mr. Lipson

asked the Minister of War Transport how much of the £250,000 allocated for the road safety campaign has been spent up to date.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport (Mr. G. R. Strauss)

The cost of the present road safety campaign up to date has been £187,000. Arrangements have been made to spend a further £62,000 for the continuation of the campaign until the end of May.

Mr. Lipson

Is the Minister proposing to present a report to the House on the way in which this money has been spent and the result of the campaign?

Mr. Strauss

We have not in mind presenting any formal report but actually this matter is being raised this evening, and, if the hon. Member desires, I can give some details then.

Mr. Bowles

May I ask whether the Minister is likely to press the Treasury for more money to carry this campaign further?

Mr. Strauss

That is a matter which is under consideration at the moment.
