HC Deb 07 March 1946 vol 420 c506
61. Squadron-Leader Donner

asked the Minister of Labour whether his attention has been drawn to the decision of a Ministry of Labour Court of Appeal in the case of seven employees of Henry Hughes & Son, Limited, of Ilford, in which the men dismissed for stopping production in the middle of the week to go to a football match were reinstated, with full pay for the time during which they have been idle since their dismissal; and if, in view of the importance of keeping up full production, he will reconsider this decision and reverse it.

Mr. Isaacs

I am making inquiries and I will write to the hon. and gallant Member.

Squadron-Leader Donner

Does not the Minister agree that incidents of this character make a mockery of any appeals to produce more?

Mr. Isaacs

No, Sir. I would say this, that if this Question had been put down on the Order Paper before yesterday, I might have been able to give an answer and perhaps avoided that Question.
