asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that teachers' training colleges are closing their lists for next autumn's intake before would-be new students have had their medical examinations for national service to ascertain whether or not they will be eligible for deferment; and if he will arrange for such students to be medically examined in advance of their registration under the National Service Acts where they so desire.

Mr. Isaacs

I am aware of the position but am having it further examined.

Mrs. Castle

Is the Minister aware that this matter is very urgent, because some of these training colleges are closing their lists this month? Will he bring his sympathetic mind to bear on it as quickly as possible?

Mr. Isaacs

Yes, Sir. I think there is a case here worthy of reconsideration.
