HC Deb 26 February 1946 vol 419 cc1734-5
36. Colonel Ponsonby

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will publish as a White Paper a list of colliery undertakings with an annual output in excess of 100,000 tons, giving in tabular form the following particulars from the year 1938: name of undertaking and locality, number of men employed, production for year, output per man shift, cost of production per ton, profit or loss per ton, capital of undertaking and dividend paid.

Mr. Shinwell

I am debarred by statute from publishing particulars relating to particular undertakings without the consent of the owners of those undertakings. In the present case, I cannot see my way to approaching the owners concerned with a view to obtaining their consent to the publication of the particulars asked for.

Colonel Ponsonby

When the amalgamation has taken place would the right hon. Gentleman consider publishing this information as he will have acquired it all by that time?

Mr. Shinwell

Of course, when the mines are completely nationalised it will be a new situation.
