asked the Minister of Fuel and Power when he intends to appoint a coal commissioner for the North-West Region.

Mr. Shinwell

In view of the impending changes, I do not propose to appoint a successor to the Regional Controller in the North-Western Region. I have accordingly made arrangements for my Regional Controller in the Midland Region to be responsible for the North-Western Region as well as the Midland Region.

Will the Minister agree that the presence or absence of coal commissioners or regional controllers makes very little difference to output?

Coal is not produced by regional controllers, is it?
