HC Deb 12 December 1946 vol 431 cc1328-9
64. Mr. Erroll

asked the President of the Board of Trade why domestically produced glue is being exported at the present time when firms manufacturing goods for export have had their allocations of glue cut by as much as 30 per cent.

Sir S. Cripps

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to him on Monday last.

Mr. Erroll

Does the Minister realise that the policy of exporting this vital raw material is in direct conflict with that of his Department concerning the export of finished goods of high labour content and low raw material content?

Sir S. Cripps

There are special reasons why a very small amount of this should be exported, and that is what is being done today.

Mr. Erroll

A very large amount is being exported.
