66. Mr. Digby

asked the President of the Board of Trade how much paper is being consumed on publicity for the production drive; and whether he is aware that shortage of paper is one of the principal factors which is retarding the production of some firms.

Sir S. Cripps

The answer to the first part of the Question is that 80 tons have been used for this purpose, and to the second part, Yes, Sir, in the case of firms using paper as raw material.

Mr. Digby

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that although the use of paper for this purpose is very necessary, firms which are very short of paper themselves are receiving unnecessary supplies of posters and leaflets, and will he look into this?
