HC Deb 04 December 1946 vol 431 c316
13. Mr. Lennox-Boyd

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation when F.I.D.O. or some form of fog-clearing equipment will be established at London Airport.

Mr. Lindgren

I indicated in reply to-questions on this subject on 20th November that my noble Friend is giving urgent consideration to this question. The examination must necessarily take some time in relation to the possibility of installation at the London Airport, but action is proceeding urgently with a view to bringing the F.I.D.O. apparatus at Blackbushe into working order. The equipment has, however, not been used for some little while and renovation, together with recruitment and training of staff must involve a delay of some three months before the installation is in full working order. Meanwhile Manston, which is a diversionary airport, is equipped with this apparatus in working order.
