HC Deb 04 December 1946 vol 431 cc316-7
14. Mr. Lennox-Boyd

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation when it is proposed to equip' Lympne airport for night landings.

Mr. Lindgren

The prewar facilities at Lympne were destroyed during the war, It will not be possible to provide new night lighting facilities until the aerodromes to be used in the United Kingdom by regular air services are fully equipped with these facilities. In the meantime the possibility of providing obstruction lighting and a mobile floodlight at Lympne is under consideration.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Will the Minister say for how much longer the accidents that happen here are to be allowed to continue and whether, if night landing apparatus cannot be installed, at least lights could be put on the obstructions if the obstructions, which are now holding up night landings, cannot be removed?

Mr. Lindgren

So far as the number of accidents is concerned, the hon. Gentleman must have information which is not at my disposal.

Hon. Members

It was in the Press.
