§ 22. Mr. J. J. Robertsonasked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will make available to the inshore fishing industry any surplus Diesel engines now no longer required by the Admiralty for the wartime purpose for which they were manufactured.
Mr. DuģdaleAll Diesel engines surplus to naval requirements are reported to the Ministry of Supply for disposal. Special attention is drawn to engines suitable for fishing vessels, and the Fisheries Departments are notified at the same time.
Mr. Hector HuģhesWill the Minister state whether, and if so when, these engines can be seen, the conditions under which they will be sold, whether by private treaty or by auction, and what other facilities will be given to enable inshore fishermen to obtain them?
Mr. DuģdaleOnce they are reported as surplus, the duty of their disposal belongs to the Ministry of Supply, and I think the question had better be addressed to that Department.
