HC Deb 18 July 1944 vol 402 cc28-9
57. Sir H. Morris-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he intends publishing the number of casualties from flying bombs; and what period the statement will cover.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Home Security (Miss Wilkinson)

I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement, covering the month of June, published on 14th July. Similar statements will be published for succeeding months.

Mr. Douglas

Do the figures for June cover casualties caused by piloted aircraft, as well as those caused by flying bombs?

Miss Wilkinson

The figures of June happen to relate entirely to casualties caused by flying bombs; there were no casualties through piloted aircraft. But, on security grounds, we think it would be undesirable if we published separate figures for casualties from piloted and from non-piloted aircraft. It would tell the enemy too much.

Mr. Granville

Does that cover Service casualties, or is it merely for civilian casualties?

Miss Wilkinson

It covers all casualties from non-piloted aircraft.
