§ 43. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether a memorandum respecting the pay of Colonial troops in different territories has yet been made available to Members and can be made public; and whether dependants' allowances for soldiers killed on service are likely to be increased?
§ Mr. Emrys-EvansCopies of this memorandum, which was prepared for the information of my hon. Friend in response to a previous Question, are available in the Library of the House. There is no objection to the information contained therein being made public. As regards the second part of the Question, I understand from my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for War that in territories where the pension rate is directly related to British rates the pensions are being adjusted to the appropriate proportion of the recently increased British rates. In this case an increase has recently been approved. In other cases no increase is proposed since the rates are at present considered to be adequate.
§ Mr. SorensenIs there likely to be any reconsideration of this matter at an early date seeing that there is some discontent?
§ Mr. Emrys-EvansI will consult my right hon. and gallant Friend.
§ Mr. SorensenWhen will that be?
