HC Deb 08 June 1943 vol 390 c516
14. Mr. Fraser

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that Allied Governments are now individually completing contracts for the purchase of grain and seeds for post-war requirements; and whether these contracts have been completed in the knowledge of the Inter-Allied Post-War Requirements Committee?

Mr. Dalton

Yes, Sir. Some purchases of wheat and of special seeds have been made by certain Allied Governments for post-war needs. Last summer the Allied Governments agreed, at the joint request of the United States and United Kingdom Governments, to consult those Governments before placing contracts for postwar supplies. The Inter-Allied Committee is preparing estimates of post-war requirements, but is not concerned with particular purchases by individual Governments.
