§ 26. Captain Stricklandasked the Secretary of State for War whether he will give fresh consideration to the clothing allowance made to serving men on their discharge which is at present quite inadequate to refit them in civilian clothes?
§ Sir J. GriggA man discharged is provided by the Army with civilian clothes. If for reasons of his own he does not want these clothes he is given a cash allowance instead calculated on the cost to the Government of the clothes normally issued. The allowance does not purport to buy the clothes at retail prices. I regret that I see no reason for increasing it.
§ Mr. McGovernIf the clothing is refused, does this soldier get coupons for clothing?
§ Sir J. GriggI should like to have notice of that question.
