asked the Minister of Health whether he will take steps to remove the anomaly whereby widows of contributors to the Contributory Pensions Acts killed while on duty in the Home Guard or the Civil Defence are deprived of their statutory benefits and are only entitled to the same amount of compensation as the widows of non-contributors?

There is no anomaly, since neither the contributor nor the non-contributor has paid any contributions to cover the particular risk to which my hon. Friend refers.
