HC Deb 19 November 1942 vol 385 c475
1. Sir Robert Rankin

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will consider the disadvantage of withdrawing skilled workers from firms in the nautical instrument trade which is of great importance to the Merchant Navy?

The Minister of Labour (Mr. Ernest Bevin)

Skilled nautical instrument makers are only withdrawn from their employment when they are required for more important or urgent work elsewhere in their own occupation. They are thus retained in the industry and employed where the best use may be made of their services.
