HC Deb 18 March 1942 vol 378 c1513
56. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Minister of Supply whether arrangements are made to transfer workpeople in Royal Ordnance Factories when work is not available; and is he satisfied that the industry is planned and organised to give the maximum output of tanks?

Sir A. Duncan

If suitable work is no longer available at a Royal Ordnance Factory, the employee concerned is either transferred as a volunteer to another Royal Ordnance Factory or is placed in other suitable munitions employment under arrangements made by the Ministry of Labour and National Service. As regards the second part of the Question, the firms engaged in tank production have been organised in groups in such a way as to secure maximum output.
