HC Deb 18 March 1942 vol 378 cc1513-4
57. Mr. Ellis Smith

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is satisfied with the Area and Regional Supply Organisation; what steps are being taken to improve it; and are plans organised and sites ready in case any area may have to be evacuated?

Sir A. Duncan

While I am satisfied generally with the Regional Organisation of the Ministry of Supply, the question whether it can be improved is being examined in connection with the work of a Committee under the chairmanship of Sir Walter Citrine, which is reviewing the constitution and functions of the Regional Boards. Arrangements have been made with a view to ensuring that, in the event of invasion, production shall be maintained at the highest possible level.

Mr- Smith

Will the Minister and the other Ministers involved bear in mind the issues raised in this Question when policy is being decided on the question of production?

Sir A. Duncan

Yes, Sir.
