HC Deb 05 March 1942 vol 378 cc784-5
14. Mr. Thorne

asked the Home Secretary whether he can give any information in connection with the first case under the Defence Regulations, when, on 2nd March at the Westminster Police Court, Arthur Appleyard, of no occupation, and several other men and women were charged with being concerned with an organisation of an unlawful gaming party; how many people were present when the police raided, on 28th February, Downs Place, Chelsea; and whether he can give the name of the owner or tenant?

Mr. H. Morrison

I am informed that II persons were arrested and charged, two of them as organisers. The case being sub judice it would not be right for me to make any further statement at present.
