HC Deb 04 March 1942 vol 378 cc643-4
50. Mr. Thorne

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware of the amount of timber that is being bought without a licence by the £1 cash method; and what action he intends taking to stop this illegal practice?

Sir A. Duncan

The Timber Control Orders exempt from licensing purchases not exceeding £1 in any one month by any one person. The total amount of timber involved is comparatively small. There is no evidence of general abuse of this exemption; but if the hon. Member has in mind any specific cases of abuse, perhaps he will supply me with particulars.

Mr. Buchanan

Is there any appeal against the decision of an official?
